‘More and more UK shoppers see Fairtrade as a simple, highly effective way to enable producers in the developing world to work their way out of poverty with dignity, receiving a decent return for their great produce and hard work.’ - Harriet Lamb, Fairtrade Executive Director.
Fairtrade has the community at it's heart. Both in the developing country producer communities, and in our local town and village communities in the UK. Faitrade has spread through grass roots activists taking the time to use and promote Fairtrade. It has grown into the huge movement it now is, not because large corporations foisted it upon us, as may be the case with some expensive new brand launch. It has grown because people at the local community level have embraced the ethos it represents, and feel that through their own purchases they can make a small difference in the fight to reduce global inequality.
Community groups take many forms, please click the community button above to find out more about the great things happening in the local Welwyn Hatfield community.
